has anyone good info on places to teach English as a US citizen without an ESL/EFL certification?

Question: I am interested in hiking around in europe and finding a job teaching english.

I am wondering if it will be a problem to enter european countries if I only have a one-way ticket? I will not be student. I've heard from several travel agents that it could be a problem and I don't want to find out the hard way.

Also, if anyone has good info on places to teach English as a US citizen without an ESL/EFL certification, I'd be appreciative. I'm esp. interested in going to Italy. I speak French and German fluently, and could learn a new language easily.

Answer: You could presumably teach French or German in the UK also!

You may have trouble with immigration if you first haven't obtained a work permit for the country you are visiting. They can be quite fussy about that in the UK. If they think you are trying to enter the country in order to stay and work here without the proper documentation. e.g. I was watching Airport (which is a documentary on Heathrow Airport) and a group of 3 Canadian girls tried to visit the UK for a few months, while on a backpacking trip, presumably wanting to get a casual job picking fruit etc, they were refused entry!
