Question:
I have a Korean friend who is presently studying English in London, and
wants a good book on pronunciation...particularly with respect to word
stress and emphasis. I, of course, have gone the Amazon route, but only
really found books that center on American English.
Answer:
If he has a computer, I suggest a software dictionary. The one I use,
Random House Webster's Unabridged, has a small symbol opposite each
definition. When you click on this symbol, a .wav recording of someone
speaking the word can be heard on the computor's speakers.
The voices used speak American English, but in a city the size of
London, surely a British version can be found?
