Question:
My god again! Sincerally, tell me it: do you know what you're saying?
Do you really know the linguistic situation in Brazil?
First, I must tell you the african languages and the indian languages
almost has disappeared. The linguistic unity of the Brazil is known in
all world because Brazil is almost a continent and there are no big
linguistic minorities.
In Brazil, it's difficult to say as in United States: this man is
descendent of european, this woman is descendent of indian. The
brazilians are a mixture of races. There are nigers that hava most of
european genetic, and white people that have most of african genetic.
I know the linguistic minorities in Brazil. Look this list and tell me
if we can generalize that the brazilians must learn the portuguese as
a second language:
1st : German (1,5 million)
2nd : Italian (500 thousands)
3rd : Japanese (350 thousands)
4th : Indian languages (300 thousands)
5th : Korean (60 thousands)
In United States, yes, we can say there are big minorities, since
there are 25 million spanish speakers there. In Brazil, the biggest
minority count just 1,5 million speakers!
Please, can you tell me where did you find the information that the
brazilians learn portuguese as a second language?
Answer:
The problem is your English. "The Brazilians do X" is not the same as
"Brazilians do X."
You claimed that no Brazilians learn Portuguese as a second language.
To the speakers in Brazil of nearly 200 Indian languages whom I
mentioned, you have now added more than two million native speakers of
European and Asian languages.
You must be more careful about your generalizations.
