Question:
It is really difficult for me to obtain reading material in French
. .especially those basic one.. as I do not have any basic in French
Answer:
I don't know what I can say to you that will make you perservere in your
goal to learn the French language, but I can tell you that you will be
enriched by the whole experience.
What about a language school such as Berlitz, etc.? Some civic centers
offer conversational classes that are fun. Check in your community. The
local high school french teachers could at least point you in the right
direction.
One thing I do know is that a lot of people would love to speak a foreign
language but are not willing to put in the time and effort. Also,
researchers have found that when more than one language is spoken by an
individual there is a higher order or thinking. some may have a problem
with this but I have a friend who teaches linguistics and she is convinced
of this and so am I. For instance, I find that as I am getting older (am
now a very young 53) I find that I can relate better to people who speak
more than one language. Unfortunately, that leaves a lot of people out,
esp. here in the good ole' US of A.
French was my first language and I did not learn English until I went to
school and am I ever glad that things worked out that way for me.
