Question:
I obviously come from germany and want to learn the arabic language,
esp. vocabulary and it's grammar. There are many books mentioned here
and there, some in english, some in german, but I could not find any
critics on them.
So if you learned the arabic language or are a native speaker, can you
recommend me any, likely in german?
Answer:
My "Grammar of the Arabic Language" is "Translated from the German of
Caspari" by W. Wright, published by Cambridge University Press, in
English. This is a complete treatment of the grammar, and any
dictionary can provide vocabulary that can be understood by means of the
rules of construction shown in this grammar. Perhaps you can find the
original by Caspari, the first edition of this translation, Volume I was
published in 1859, Volume II in 1862. I have been unable to find
Caspari's first name.
