Question:
I am considering living in Mexico but have concerns about elementary education
for my children and telecommunications for my access to my business. I lived
in Mexico (D.F., Acapulco, and Cuernavaca) years ago as a student but of
course did not have children or a virtual business then.
Answer:
When I lived in Guadalajara, my kids were placed in the "best" English
language elementary school around.
It was dissapointing.
The instructors seemed to be a mix of Mexicans and Mexican-Americans
from the Rio Grande Valley.
Thick accents in English.
Fortunately my wife and I spoke English at home. Today, my children,
both grown, are perfectly fluent and accentless in both Spanish and
English.
My daughter, now married lives outside Guadalajara in a pretty fancy
suburb: Bugambilias. She has my Granddaughter in a school featuring
"intensive" English instruction.
I sat in on a class one day, then had a conversation with the teacher.
I don't think she understood half my English.
Maybe it'l be beter where you're living. Hope so, for your kids sakes.
