Question:
I'm relatively new to programming and I'm learning on the job
basically. I started out last year after a drastic change in career.
I'm in a developer role now and I'm looking for some advice as to
which is the best way to learn and get to grips with new languages and
parctices. For example I want to pick up XML - I've read the basics
and done a couple of tutorials. I'm not using it aat work. How can I
build on my knowledge? What's the best way? I seem to be sso much
slower than my 'friends' at picking things up and they are'nt sharing.
Answer:
Write a real program in your new language. It'll be painful--lots of
looking stuff up--but the next one will be easier (and better). And
it'll continue to get easier (and better).
