We are moving to the Miss. Gulf Coast in a few weeks and would like to
know the dates of the Jazz Fest (is it still Fri/Sat of two weekends, or
has it expanded?) and the Golf Tourney (it used to be the
Freeport-Macmoran, but I don't know what it is called these days).
Is there a web site that might have this and other info on *events* in
New Orleans and the surrounding areas?
Answer:
Jazz Fest is _always_ the last weekend of April and first weekend of May.
The Fairgrounds part of it is the Friday-Saturday-Sunday of the last
weekend of April and the Thursday-Friday-Saturday-Sunday of the first
weekend of May. The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival has a WWW site
if you want more information, set your Yahoo or Alta Vista WWW browser to
search for the URL.
It's still sponsored by Freeport-McMoran, I think it's coming up soon, in
mid-March at English Turn golf course. The New Orleans Times Picayune offers a WWW site, WWW.neworleans.net. If
you see posts by Ray Jones on the internet, he moderates a New Orleans
Mailing List you can receive in private E-mail. Just look in his .sig for
how to subscribe. Lots of very knowledgeable New Orleans folks there can
