How do I change the grammar rule?

Question: Using Word 2003, I want to change 'staff' so that it will accept plural form of verbs, ie the school staff were in agreement. Word only accepts 'staff' as a singular noun, which is silly in the material I am writing. How do I change the grammar rule?

Answer: In Tools | Options, Spelling and Grammar, if you click on Settings, there are several things you can control, though I doubt this is one of them. May be worth checking, though.

Otherwise, I think you will just have to ignore Word's limited understanding of English grammar.
