Question:
I am trying to find a good basic English grammer book to teach my 6
year old. Obviously, the adult ones are many and they are too much for
that age. any body can recommend some good books in that category? The
ideal one in my mind should be a simple book with some easy exercises.
Answer:
As far as I can figure, the very best grammar exercises for a six-year-old
consist of speaking and being spoken to on a variety of subjects in the
language the child is learning. Why on earth would anyone want a
six-year-old to do "exercises" in English grammar? In addition, simply
reading to the child from interesting books that employ good grammar will
help. Most children learn grammar by hearing and using the language, not by
learning rules and practicing them.
