are you able to plan many of the class activities together?

Question: I was just tossed an Honors 9th grade English class today. I've always taught regular 9th grade, and now I have an honors in the mix. Question: When you have both, are you able to plan many of the class activities together, or do you plan them as totally seperate entities?

Answer: I have taught honors and regular level sections of the same courses many times. I usually don't plan activities together. I plan the two courses as completely separate. Usually, since the honors class moves at a faster pace (in math, we generally "go through the book", with some adaptations and supplementing), I am sometimes able to use some of the notes, examples and activities that I devised for the honors section with my "regular" students. I usually have to do more coaching and adaptation with the regular students when I try to use those activities
