Question:
Ok I know the situation BUT.
We are moving to Montreal from Britain having permanent residence. This
means that our 12 year old son would have to go to a French school. We would
love him to be bilingual, that's why we moving to Montreal BUT think he is a
bright lad who should learn French as a second language but be taught in
English ( our daughter 9, will go to a french school) Partly because the
upheaval etc of moving to a foreign country and then being at a school where
everyone is speaking french will be heavy for him at this stage in his life.
1. Is there a way round the charter, what are the liberals doing?
2. if not, anyone have any ideas or advice?
Answer:
I may be wrong, but I think that if the one of the parents went to English
schools, children may have the right to go into English too.
Must all immigrants go to French schools?
There was a way to bypass the law, if the elder child goes into a private
English school, for 1 year. Then, from the following year, all children
including the one above, could go to any English school.
But this may have been suppressed.
