Question:
The high school both raised the bar AND had a lottery. The students were
originally picked based on GPA, teach recommendations and a test. Then
when a lot of kids didn't get in and there was a fuss, a few spots were
opened based on a lottery. Seems to me it should all be a lottery.
And in regard to paying for the class. I could pay. But I resent paying
if others get the class for free. I feel that the burden should be
spread amoung all the students, or that the school should pay. Why
should I have to pay because their teaching staff is inadequate?
And as far as "acting white." At least I got a discussion going! :) If
other people have some ideas about why the AP classes are so white,
please feel free to add your "sweeping generalizations."
Answer:
Don't forget "so female." In my sophomore AP English class of thirty there were
only three boys, including myself. And of those three, neither went on to
junior AP English. I'm guessing there were about five males in the junior and
senior classes.
